We send flowers from across the world!
At Dean's Flowers in Halifax, our cut flowers are imported from as far away as South and Central Americas, Mexico, and Europe. Our tropical and flowering plants are also grown in places far and wide. We only carry the finest quality in flowers and plants, in order to ensure that you get something that is beautiful and lasting.
Cut Flowers need Water!
You will also have a role in ensuring that your flowers and plants bloom and grow to their fullest potential. When you receive a bouquet of cut flowers, you will also receive a packet of preservative. You should remove the water tubes that your flowers were transported with, and cut at least an inch off the end of each stem, and remove any leaves and foliage that would otherwise be immersed below the water line. In a vase, dissolve the contents of the preservative packet in tepid water, and arrange your flowers, with tallest flowers in the center, and shorter ones around the edges. If you find that some of the stems are too long, feel free to cut them to a height that suits your arrangement. Over the life of your flowers, top up the water whenever you notice that the water line has receded.
Flowers in a Vase and Arrangements need Refreshing!
If the flowers you receive are arranged in a vase or container, keep an eye on the water level, and be sure to top it up if you notice that the water line is receding.
Know your plant's requirements!
When you receive a tropical or flowering plant, or a dish garden, you should receive a tag that describes the watering, feeding, temperature, and light requirements for that particular plant. If you have any questions, you can certainly call us at our shop and we will give you the best advice for care. You may also "Google" the plant by its Latin name to get the same pertinent information.
NASA research has consistently shown that living, green and flowering plants can remove several toxic chemicals from the air in building interiors. You can use plants in your home or office to improve the quality of the air to make it a more pleasant place to live and work - where people feel better, perform better, any enjoy life more.
